Teacher of Visually Impaired (TVI)

Teacher of the Visually Impaired | Up to $45/hour | Taylorsville, NC | Part-Time | 2026-2027 School Year 

Position Details

  • Part-time
  • Starting at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year, for the entire school year

What You’ll Do

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments in alignment with their IEPs
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments to guide instructional planning
  • Adapt materials into accessible formats such as braille, large print, and tactile graphics
  • Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to support student access and success
  • Support development of independence, assistive technology use, and compensatory skills

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited college or university in Special Education or related field.
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visually Impaired.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
  • Provide specialized instruction across academic subjects
  • Manage classroom behavior and create a structured, supportive environment
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Write progress reports and maintain compliant documentation
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies for diverse learning needs
  • Incorporate technology and resources to enhance learning

What We’re Looking For

  • MUST HAVE: Valid South Carolina state teaching license in both areas of  Special Education: Multicategorical AND also in Early Childhood  
  • Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
